This is just such a fun cozy series, and it s always hard to see whodunit The Juniper Grove setting is like another character, since it adds extra flavor to the mysteries Endearing characters I like Miss Julia

If you like cozy mysteries, here is a good one It s book two in Karin Kaufman s Juniper Grove Mystery series I loved the first and I loved this one There are five total I can t wait for the next one. These books are best read in order Mystery writer Rachel Stowe moves back to her native Colorado after a disappointment in the big city of Boston Now, she s solving real life mysteries, along with her two new friends and cohorts in sleuthing Now, if she can only get this police chief to look her way Clever and well written, Kaufman s mysteries keep you guessing until the end And if you want a tighter mystery and loads of suspense, try her Anna Denning Mystery series It s wonderful I was given a complimentary copy of this book All opinions are my own and honest.

Halloween and murder is taking over the charming town of Juniper Grove, Colorado. This second book, in the series, kept me guessing and I loved the team Rachel, Holly and Julia swinging into action The mystery was fast paced and I changed my mind about the murderer several times I loved the idea of using a scavenger hunt as a setting for murder, especially during Halloween Not only did I enjoy the mystery, but also the descriptions of the town in October The setting was rich, cozy and made me long for hot chocolate, cinnamon tea, sweaters, and of course, almond scones and cream puffs from Hollys s Sweets I can t wait for my next visit to Juniper Grove

I really do like reading this series I have read the first one however I can not write a review of the first book until after my book club of this book i find Rachel Stowe to be nosy and just decides she wants to be a private investigator I also think its odd that everyone is willing to talk to her about these murders without it being a problem I will keep reading this series because I think this book is pretty good I would like to see Rachel actually work on a story or maybe write mysteries based off of the murders she is solving.

Even better I have to be honest, I wasn t sold on the Juniper Grove series after I finished the first book but, less than halfway into book two, SOLD The characters personalities are coming out and the towns dynamic is really evolving I appreciate Ms Kaufman s choice to write a series that is clean She proves that you don t have to put sex, violence, and foul language in a book in order for it to be a truly enjoyable book Now it s time to dive into book number 3

Loved it This author is excellent I enjoy reading her books She writes about a mystery writer who tries to solve mysteries in her new little town In Death of a Scavenger, Holly is accused of murder Rachel Stowe is out to prove her friend innocent Rachel uses her skills as a mystery writer to help solve the crime Is there romance blooming in Juniper Grove

  9. says:

The overall story lacked a maturity I like to see in characters I read this for the Fall Halloween feel but after the first chapter there was little to the cozy holiday feel Rachel is unkind and flippant with many people and occasionally it was completely unwarranted I would love to have seen humor and less of the high school nonsense

  10. says:

The past is never really put behind usTerrific The annual scavenger hunt is cut short when a body is discovered Why were they kiled and by whom There a clues aplenty and a few red herrings that will have you rethinking who the killer is The characters are really growing into themselves A cozy that will keep you guessing until the end.
