My favourite Otfried Preu ler book as a child, loved it even than Die kleine Hexe My fascination with books set under water obviously started early Maybe this book is why Huh, never thought of that before This was the first proper book I ever read in my life, hence being the beginning of the wonderful and passionate relationship I share with books I can still see myself sitting on the giant wooden snail on our school playground, reading it during during afternoon supervision Just thinking about this book makes me drown in nostalgia. otfried preussler writes the most adorable childrens books i d NEVER give these away Oh, such a lovely trip down memory lane I read this when I was about 8, and was utterly charmed by the lovely illustrations and the little water sprite himself I loved that he ate water fleas and water weeds, that he wore clothes made from fish scales, and rode on the back of a carpMy copy of the book was lost somewhere along life s journey, but I never forgot it I even wrote a poem about it when I was fourteen you can read it on my website, www.aliisaacstoryteller.com poems.Recently, I bought it from , expecting to find my fond childish memories over exaggerated Not at all Still as captivating to me now as it was all those years ago A delightful book to read with your young children. Charming older book that was quite enjoyable Lots of fun little stories with short chapters which would make it a good read aloud book at bedtime. I still hate the part with Neunauge lamprey It made my stomach turn as a kid Im Haus Des Wassermanns Und Seiner Frau Herrscht Helle Aufregung Mitten Im M Hlenweiher Hat Sich Nachwuchs Mit Gr Nen Haaren Und Einer Roten Zipfelm Tze Angesagt, Und Nun Kommen Die Fische Von Nah Und Fern, Um Zu Gratulieren Bald Schon Will Der Kleine Wassermann, Sehr Zum Leidwesen Seines Besorgten Vaters, Die Welt Erkunden Flink Und Unbeschwert Schwimmt Er Ber Das Wassermannhaus, Verf Ngt Sich Im Gestr Pp Der Schlingpflanzen, Schlie T Freundschaft Mit Den Fischen, K Mmert Sich Um Die Unachtsam Von Menschen Ins Wasser Geworfenen Abf Lle Und Sorgt F R Eine Mittlere Katastrophe, Als Er Das Wasser Des M Hlenteichs Abl Sst Dann H Lt Es Ihn Nicht Mehr Unter Wasser Er Will Die Welt Dar Ber Erkunden Und Dann Gibt Es Ja Noch Das Ebenso R Tselhafte Wie Unheimliche Neunaugen Monster, Das Den Kleinen Wassermann Sogar Bis In Seine Tr Ume Verfolgt this was one of my favorite books as a kid Preussler s books are great children s books.his wonderful and dark fairytale of Krabat is one or young adults. This one had lots of nostalgia for me as well But I didn t like it as much as other books by Preu ler. There are some very beautiful passages in this book but also a few things I didn t enjoy The little water sprite can be quite mean and mischievous On a side note I didn t like the portrayal and treatment of the little water sprite s mother Seemingly, she s only there to cook almost immediately after giving birth and cry Also, I m still not sure how big water sprites actually are On one hand, the little water sprite fits into a pot and can ride a carp On the other hand, he s big enough to open a floodgate and is mistaken for a normal boy by humans.
