There is a certain level of creepy to Day s story that grows and grows as this short story advances We ve all heard the various ways that mankind is overthrown by robots, but Day s version sounds like both a paradise and nightmare, depending on which viewpoint you choose to take.I really enjoyed For Your Safety and it was perfectly sized for my bus ride home from work Day s descriptions provided a very vivid look at what his anthropormorphic animals were doing to the world, and the way he handled furries was unique and interesting This was refreshing to read, and I found myself wondering if it wasn t all bad by the end of the story. That said, when everything gets explained, the story hits a large amount of dialogue and explanations which immediately kills the forward momentum of the story We started in an action heavy scene, only for it to slow to a crawl as the protagonist heals and then is taken away The way things pan out works wonderfully for the story, but the change in pacing takes a bit to get used to.In the end, Day has crafted a well written story that presents a different take on robot uprisings It gets you thinking, and makes you consider if perhaps, just maybe, it really is just for our safety

There are many accounts of the Singularity too many, perhaps but this one goes in the most unexpected direction what if machines bore us no malice, if they were, as in an Asimov story, exceedingly benevolent towards us, but not bound by the three laws of robotics What if we were going down the path of destruction, but refused to listen to reason The atmosphere of this story is quite unique, and you should check it out.
