I had been looking forward to this book for a while, because I ve so thoroughly enjoyed other books by Tullet Now that I ve finally gotten my hands on a copy and read it, I think I set my expectations too high This is a good book, with a clever approach to counting and learning numbers up to 100 and a few beyond 100 However, it doesn t have that spark and zing that I loved about the other books.Content warning Some people might be bothered with the section on creation This is not the strictest traditional Holy Bible creation for one thing, it includes dinosaurs It does show the creation of man before woman , but know that the figures are nude My biggest complaint is, why did the man figure get a fig leaf, but the woman figure got nothing

Neat book and a bit artsy Not sure that I could use it in any storytime or programming.

SUMMARYHerve Tullet counts to ten ten times, in ten different ways The reader navigates through creatively rendered numbers, fingers, paints, body parts, and , discovering dynamic depictions of the number ten Multiple representations presented in a repetitive way helps young learners conceptualize the number ten and beyond ACTIVITYStudents brainstorm ways they can count to ten Options may include drawing or choosing objects in the room Work in partners, groups, or individually Another variation is to make this a take home activity, where students collect and bring in ten items of their choosing Glue items to paper and hang around the room to show all the new ways to show ten Use ones and tens blocks alongside this activity to introduce or reinforce mathematical connections CITATIONTullet, H 2014 10 times 10 Millbank, London Tate Publishing.

I love Herve Tullet This is a beautiful picture book that looks at different ways of counting to 10 this is not only good reinforcement but also helpful for my highly visual autistic daughter It s also nice that it goes beyond a hundred, a thousand, etc as it comes to things like grains of sand, stars in the sky.Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes We try to get different ones out every week or so it s fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new favourite authors.

A counting book that incorporates color identification, silliness, stories, and

Herv Tullet, we all know he s a bit of a nutter so I was expecting nothing but artsy epic things from this book, which I got However I also got a bit on creation which sadly can t be part of my school library So yeah FYI comes with a few creation pages

Seems like it might start out being a normal concepts book, but quickly gets rather weird and esoteric as you might expect from Herve Tullet He s kind of hit or miss for me sometimes he has really neat, innovative ideas, and sometimes his stuff just strikes me as weird This one was on the weird side Plus, there s a section on creation, in which he shows Adam and Eve in a scene with a dinosaur In my opinion, that s a big no no, because it s misleading on a variety of levels I ll pass on this one
